Adyen to Power Pathé Payment Platform

AMSTERDAM – Adyen, the fast-growing provider of next generation Internet payment solutions, has been selected by Pathé in the Netherlands to power online and mobile payments for its 21 cinemas across the country.

Adyen’s refreshing approach to payments, focused on giving merchants complete control over the look and feel of the payment page, has enabled Pathé to deeply integrate streamlined payment processes into its existing online and new mobile ticketing services.

Pathé is one of Europe’s longest established film companies, founded and originally run by the Pathé brothers of France in 1896. The company now operates in the fields of production and distribution throughout the continent, as well as owning some 105 cinema theatres across France, Netherlands and Switzerland. Operating as an autonomous business unit, Pathé in the Netherlands has chosen Adyen to improve the payment experience for its customers, in addition to driving up online and mobile sales conversion rates.

“Naturally, choosing a payment processor involved considerable research, but it became apparent there was only one company that could match our online and mobile ambitions, and that was Adyen,” explained Thomas Van De Weerd, Manager Internet Development, Pathé. “The stress-free, flexible and efficient service provided by Adyen has enabled us to migrate from our existing online payment platform with ease, and we have very high hopes for our new mobile application for smartphones.”

The Adyen payment platform uses innovative skin technology which enables merchants to adjust everything related to the look and feel of the page – from logos and colours to the fields into which customer data is inputted. Ajax technology also means that online and mobile payments can be processed on a single screen with a single click, instead of loading multiple pages to run through payment acceptance.
