Worldwide payment system
Skrill’s worldwide payment network offers businesses in 200 countries and territories access to 100 payment options, including credit card, debit card and bank transfer, with just one integration and contract. Skrill also offers risk management and optional chargeback protection for merchants. Today, 135,000 merchants are registered with Skrill.
Milestones
Founded in 2001, Moneybookers Limited, now trading as “Skrill”, was the first European financial institution to receive an electronic money licence. Skrill is regulated by the UK Financial Services Authority (FSA). Investcorp Technology Partners purchased the company from its founders in 2007. From 2006 to 2012, the company grew rapidly from 2.5 million to 30 million accounts. In 2011 Skrill had a transaction volume of over 10 billion Euros. Skrill is one of the fastest growing European technology companies and has won multiple awards, including the Sunday Times Buyout Track, the t3n Web Award and multiple Media Momentum Awards.
