SINGAPORE | CyberSource, a Visa company (NYSE: V), and one of the world's largest providers of eCommerce payment management services, today announced that Indonesia’s national airline, Garuda Indonesia, will adopt the full suite of CyberSource’s global payment gateway and fraud management services.
Garuda Indonesia’s focus on growth and quality service has received industry recognition in recent years with a string of awards, including the “Best Regional Airline in Asia” and “World’s Best Regional Airline” awards received in 2012 from the 2012 World Airline Awards(1). As part of its drive to improve customer satisfaction, the airline needed to make sure they could continue to provide their customers with a convenient and secure payment experience for all transactions. This meant that robust internal risk management processes had to be put in place, and supported by a scalable and secure payment gateway with a fraud management solution.
“To protect our revenue as we expand our operations, we need flexible and innovative solutions that cater to the payment and risk challenges airlines face. This is crucial for our ‘Quantum Leap 2011-2015’ plan(2) to become the leading airline in the region,” said Mr Joseph Saul, VP, E-Commerce, PT Garuda Indonesia. “Our partnership with CyberSource provides the solutions expertise and payment management platform necessary to rapidly expand our business in the region.”
Garuda Indonesia is the first airline in Asia Pacific to adopt the full suite of capabilities available via the CyberSource payment management platform, which consists of global payment services to support online and multi-channel payments, including the ability to securely process multiple payment types worldwide. Garuda will also be able to accurately screen for fraud using CyberSource Decision Manager and Performance Monitoring with Guarantees.
With Payment Services, Garuda Indonesia will be able to offer a highly reliable, scalable and secure online payments infrastructure. By leverage CyberSource tokenization services, Garuda will operate with payment tokens instead of raw payment data, thereby allowing them to provide a secure payment process while removing the need for them to handle sensitive payment data.
Another key service in managing payments in an expanding cross-border business is having an effective fraud management tool. CyberSource Decision Manager, provides the ability to automatically screen more orders, based on insights from over 60 billion transactions processed annually by Visa and CyberSource, thereby streamlining Garuda’s fraud operations. Using results from over 260 global validation tests, Garuda will then be able to assess the risk of the inbound order in real time of all of less than two seconds.
In addition, CyberSource fraud analysts will conduct ongoing monitoring and tuning of system and process performance to provide Garuda with greater visibility over the fraud management process.
“CyberSource believes airline payment management can be an enabler of airline differentiation and scalability. We are looking forward to working closely with Garuda Indonesia in their goal to become a five star airline by 2015 (3),” said J Michael Bradley, Managing Director for Asia Pacific, CyberSource.
