Transaction Network Services (NYSE:TNS) has signed an agreement with Continental Airlines, one of the largest international carriers in the US, that enables Continental Airlines to use the TNSPay gateway to authorize online payment transactions.
Under the terms of the agreement, Continental Airlines will process online payments from its reservations system through TNS’ PCI certified TNSPay gateway. The TNSPay platform enables more than 180 million transactions each year and connects a growing number of more than 30,000 merchants and over 110 banks and major card schemes worldwide.
The TNSPay gateway is a PCI certified payments solution that enables merchants to securely accept payments over the Internet or any other payment application where the credit card is not physically present at the point-of-sale, such as mail/phone order, call centers and recurring billing.
This solution enables merchants to authorize and settle credit card transactions reliably, securely and cost-effectively. It also provides merchants with a number of value-added capabilities to assist them in areas such as fraud prevention, risk management, card security, and management information and reporting.
The TNSPay gateway provides a flexible centralized platform, built on a robust enterprise architecture. The solution is designed to simplify system integration, allowing companies to consolidate legacy, decentralized payments systems, resulting in more efficient operations. The gateway accepts and processes major cards from anywhere in the world, provides multi-currency support to process foreign currencies, and offers connectivity to a wide variety of global acquiring institutions. It also provides optional capabilities for PCI DSS compliant, tokenized data storage for secure recurring and repeat payments.
Ron Anderson-Lehman, Senior Vice President and CIO at Continental Airlines, said: “Selecting TNS and using a dedicated payment gateway will allow us to continue to deliver the same great service to our customers, but with many operational benefits. We will process millions of card-not-present transactions each year with TNS providing access to its global payments network.
“In addition, we will no longer need to divert resources to making payment scheme updates. TNS will take care of these which will result in substantial cost savings. This allows Continental Airlines to focus on our core strengths and priorities.”
TNS has extensive experience in the global airlines industry and counts many leading airlines among its user base. It also lists many banks, major credit card providers and large merchants as customers.
Ray Low, President of TNS’ Payments Division, said: “We help many organizations across the globe to capitalize on the benefits of using a dedicated payment gateway and are delighted to be bringing this secure, reliable and proven technology to the United States and Continental Airlines.
“Internal payment systems are difficult to manage. By using the TNSPay gateway, Continental Airlines will be able to leverage the latest upgrades, as we make them available. This is more cost effective than Continental Airlines building internal custom upgrades each time a change is required, allowing the company to focus on providing a first class service to its customers.”
With 269 destinations worldwide, Continental Airlines, along with Continental Express and Continental Connection, serves more international destinations than any other US carrier and is used by over 60 million passengers each year.
TNS’ global expertise extends to more than 40 countries across the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific regions.
