PayPoint.net to process WHSmith’s online payments for next three years
London, 15th March 2011: PayPoint.net today announces that WHSmith, one of the UK’s leading retailers, has extended its contract to provide online payment services to the retailer’s online store, www.whsmith.co.uk. The three-year renewal will see PayPoint.net continuing to process all online transactions WHSmith.co.uk handles for its customers every year. PayPoint.net was first appointed to process its payments shortly before Christmas 2007 when WHSmith.co.uk re-launched.
PayPoint.net’s secure payment solution is specifically tailored to meet WHSmith’s business requirements and seamlessly integrates with its in-house systems. As a result WHSmith can incorporate PayPoint.net’s real-time reporting and reconciliation functionality into its existing technology, making its systems easier to manage while giving WHSmith a detailed view of its business performance.
WHSmith has been impressed with the reliability and robustness of its payment platform. PayPoint.net’s highly scalable infrastructure, high processing capacity, full disaster recovery solution and 24/7/365 system monitoring has helped support high volumes of traffic and sales for more than three years.
Mark Stephenson, Operations Manager WHSmith comments: “Brand reputation is a key factor for WHSmith, which is why we needed a reliable payment solution to help us expand our offering from an established high street business to a fully functioning ecommerce store. Not only has PayPoint.net’s payment platform delivered on its promise, we’ve been highly impressed with their dedicated support and ongoing consultation. It was an easy decision to extend our contract.”
Michael Norton, managing director of PayPoint.net comments: “We’re delighted to continue supporting established high street brands like WHSmith offering a reliable and easy-to-use online service. We’ve worked closely with WHSmith to understand their business needs and provide a bespoke solution capable of adapting to industry developments and changing regulations. We look forward to building on our partnership over the next three years.”
WHSmith currently operates over 1000 stores, primarily in the UK, comprising over 570 high street stores and over 500 retail units in airports, railway stations, hospitals, workplaces and motorway service areas. WHSmith sells a wide range of newspapers, magazines, stationery, books and confectionery products, with WHSmith Travel tailoring its offer to meet the needs of people on the move.
