BRUSSELS | Ingenico Payment Services, previously Ogone, partners with Seamless to support its mobile wallet SEQR for online purchases. SEQR enables anybody with a smartphone to pay in stores and online through one mobile app. Thousands of Belgian web shops using the Ogone platform can now offer a simple and secure online checkout using the consumer's mobile.
SEQR Mobile Wallet | More Conversion, Less cost
SEQR (se•cure) is Sweden’s and Europe’s most used mobile wallet in stores and online. Through the SEQR app, the user simply scans or taps a QR-code/NFC at check-out and approves the purchase by entering a PIN code. From consumer point of view a very safe and secure way of transacting online or in-store. It means one can only complete a purchase when he or she is in the position of the smartphone, is able to scan the QR-code generated on the merchant's checkout page and knows the personal PIN. This makes online fraud on SEQR payments almost impossible.
At the same time it is convenient as consumers nowadays have their mobiles always on them, contrary to other security devices required for online bank transfers and 3D Secure card transactions. The SEQR Mobile Wallet is assumed to lower abandon rates as well, as there is no need to input of a large amount of data such as the card number, name, expiration date and security codes, known to cause drop outs. Equally important for merchants: the SEQR’s payment solution has significantly lower interchange fees compared to those charged by traditional card companies and would allow merchants to further reduce transaction costs.
Authorise access to debit their bank account
Belgium is the first market where Seamless will route payments for SEQR exclusively through SEPA. Consumers all over the Euro area can authorise access to debit their bank account when paying with SEQR, regardless of bank.
"We strive to make the online shopping experience as pleasant and easy for consumers as possible and SEQR’s mobile payment solution is definitely a powerful tool for this. We are delighted that we can add SEQR to our range of payment solutions, explains Xavier Thiran, Head of Business Development, Ingenico Payment Services.
Founded in 2001 and active in 30 countries, Seamless handles more than 3,1 billion transactions annually through 525 000 active sales outlets. 4 600 merchants have chosen SEQR including Sweden’s largest grocery chains, fast food chains and national retailer chains including McDonald’s, Hemköp and Ur&Penn.
