TOKYO & AMSTERDAM | Adyen partners with JCB International to enable its merchants to accept JCB cards both online and in-store. The Adyen-JCB partnership covers 28 European countries, including the top ecommerce markets United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands.

JCB was founded in Japan in 1961 and is one of world's leading card payment brands next to Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners/Discover and UnionPay. JCB cards are now issued in 16 countries with more than 84 million cardholders. JCB and JCBI, its international branch, has formed alliances with more than 350 leading banks and financial institutions globally to increase merchant coverage and cardmember base.
The partnership with Adyen means a great leap forward for the JCB brand in terms of brand recognition, future growth of its payment brand and acceptance footprint across Europe. The partnership will allow Adyen to be the first JCB licensee to offer JCB acceptance to French merchants. According to JCB also the Netherlands forms an important market as it is one of the major destination markets for European JCB card members.
