Adyen Enables One-click Payments for Qiwi Wallet

AMSTERDAM | Adyen teams up with Qiwi to make it possible for Russian shoppers to make 'one-click-payments'. By supporting one-click-payments with the QIWI wallet, Adyen enables its online merchants attracting Russian shoppers to provide an improved and faster checkout.

Qiwi One-click Payments

Qiwi is a very popular digital wallet in Russia that enables its users to shop and pay without the need to enter bank account or credit card details over the internet. Normally when checking out, the shopper selects the Qiwi payment method and is asked to enter their email address and mobile number to identify the Qiwi account.

After filling in the details, the customer receives a validation code via SMS and confirms payment. To help merchants provide a faster, even better user-friendly experience to their customers, Adyen and Qiwi now make it possible for Russian shoppers to make 'one-click payments'. This Qiwi one-click checkout process considerably improves conversion rates of merchants (especially for those with many returning customers).

Qiwi and Russia

Qiwi has deployed over 15 million virtual wallets to consumers in Russia and CIS. With over 70 million unique customers per month Qiwi is a leading alternative payment network and a very important payment option to offer when conducting (online) business in Russia.

Qiwi Wallet allows its users to use cash, stored value and other electronic payment methods to pay for goods and services in both physical and online environments. Shoppers are able to top up their Qiwi wallet by paying cash at one of the 170,000 Qiwi payment kiosks, by using a linked credit or debit card or by using their linked Webmoney account.

Qiwi Advantages

Qiwi comes with a number of advantages. Less than half of Russian adults have bank accounts, and a widespread culture of distrust toward banks means that an enormous percentage of the population are open to alternative payment methods. Qiwi is easy to register for, easy to use, cash-friendly, and free of charge.

With its enormous network of payment kiosks in Russia (as well as some in neighboring markets and even the US), Qiwi has more than double the reach of any individual bank’s ATMs. And through a combination of transaction monitoring, SMS transaction verification for cardholders, and a dedicated anti-fraud team, it is a secure payment method with no risk of chargebacks.

Qiwi Wallet, Interac Online and JCB cards

The news about supporting One-Click Payments for Qiwi Wallet follows Adyen's recent announcements of adding Interac Online to its payment offering and enabling European merchants to accept JCB cards both online and in-store.
