UTRECHT | According to research by GfK, the Dutch online spendings on clothing and shoes increased with over 25%. To the contrary, the total retail sales for these segments | online and offline | decreased with 3% to $ 9.8 billion (7.4 billion euro). The online shoe purchasing volume grew with 80%, the physical shop sales decreased by 1%.
In 2011 the online shoe sales accounted for 8.8% of the total Dutch spend on shoes | approx $280 million. For the clothing segment that percentage is surprisingly lower with 8.5% | approx $ 840 million.
