SIX and BNP Paribas Fortis open up BC/MC monopoly in Belgium

BELGIUM | SIX Payment Services (SIX) and BNP Paribas Fortis partner to provide payment services to merchants of all sizes and industries in Belgium. Through this partnership BNP Paribas Fortis will be able to offer merchant acquiring services powered by SIX, including leveraging payment terminals and processing of in-store and online card payments.

Belgium E-commerce Market Update | First Quarter 2015

In the first quarter, at least 6.8 million Belgian people bought one product or service online. That means that 74% of the Belgian population - older than 15 years - is an online buyer. On average 307 euro is spend online per online shopper. Compared to its neighbouring country The Netherlands - where 636 euro per capita is spend online - Belgium is half way however picking up pace.

European Acquirer EMS powers Bancontact/Mister Cash payments for Zalando

Until recently Worldline was the only acquirer capable of processing Bancontact/Mister Cash payments for both brick-and-mortar and e-commerce shops. Back in September 2014, payment processor SIX and BNP Paribas opened up this monopoly. Now EMS has become the third Bancontact/Mister Cash acquirer to be able to process BC/MC card payments.

MultiSafepay becomes Bancontact acquirer

European payment service provider MultiSafepay, headquartered in Amsterdam, will become an acquirer of the Belgian payment method Bancontact this month. The acquirer-status will allow MultiSafepay to provide the payment method to their customers without involving a third party to facilitate it.
