iDEAL: strong performer in 2012?

VLEUTEN, THE NETHERLANDS | iDEAL, the online payment method using online banking, is by far the preferred payment method in the Netherlands. iDEAL numbers have grown with 20-30% year-over-year. 2012 again will be a record year: for the first time over 10 million iDEAL payments in one month (October), and over 100 million transactions in one year. The total number of iDEAL transactions for 2012 will probably be around 117 million.

Klarna buys SOFORT

STOCKHOLM | The payment providers Klarna AB (“Klarna”) from Sweden and SOFORT AG (“SOFORT”) from Germany today announced that they will join forces. Klarna is acquiring SOFORT from the majority shareholder Reimann Investors. Both companies will continue to offer their products side by side and operate on stand-alone basis. With the acquisition, Klarna becomes one of the largest independent alternative payment solution providers in Europe.

AfterPay acquired by arvato

NETHERLANDS | AfterPay, the pay-after-delivery payment service provider in the Netherlands, has been acquired by arvato Financial Services. The acquisition of AfterPay, a popular payment method using open invoice, supports arvato's strategy to offer their clients a full range of integrated payment and risk management solutions.
