Tenpay

Tenpay is a major Chinese payments solution enabling Chinese consumers to pay online and cross-border. Tenpay is similar to PayPal and allows for payments between persons and businesses. Tenpay wallets can be topped up with cash, (e-)bank transfers and stored credit or debit cards.

INTRODUCTION

Tenpay is developed by Tencent company - a Chinese giant in mass media entertainment, internet and mobile phone value added services and online advertising. It is the fifth-largest Internet company in the world after Google, Amazon, Ebay and Facebook (April 2014). Their instant messaging services 'QQ' and 'WeChat' have more than 1 billion users. Tenpay users can use the Tenpay wallet to send money and make payments (similar to PayPal). The Tenpay wallet is compatible with the e-banking service of major domestic bank. Tenpay also supports Tenpay Express Checkout, enabling consumers to check out in just a few seconds, simply paying by username and password (the securely stored credit or debit card is charged automatically). More than 200,000 shopping website accept Tenpay. According to a report by China Post, Tenpay was estimated to have registered about 200 million users by end of 2012.
