AMSTERDAM | Payvision and ControlScan announce their partnership to help Payment Service Providers (PSPs), Independent Sales Organisations (ISOs) and merchants to meet the card schemes requirements of safeguarding card data.
PCI DSS, the well-known payment card industry (PCI) standard set by the major card organisations MasterCard, Visa, American Express, JCB and Discover, is a set of rules and regulations intended to protect cardholder information processed online.
The PCI Data Security Standard (or PCI DSS) requires merchants to proof compliance with keeping card data safe by means of self-assessment questionnaires and network scans (to determine if their are vulnerabilities in the network / systems of the merchants).
PCI DSS has been developed to prevent unauthorised people (hackers) to gain acces and steel sensitive card data from merchants and processor systems to commit card-not-present fraud. With data security compromises on the rise, it is critical for every player in the payments industry to actively work toward compliance with the PCI Data Security Standard (DSS).
For many parties involved in the card processing business and for online merchants, complying with PCI DSS is often a difficult task: it requires resources to embed the Standard in the organisations' processes, and on monitor compliance on a continuous basis as requirements change over time and vulnerabilities could arise with every system or website change.
The costs and risk involved (for not being complaint or in case of a data compromise) can be substantial. And, even so important, as it is not the core activity of the merchant, there is often a lack of understanding of the set of rules and impact on systems and people.
Payvision's partnership with ControlScan aims to simplify the complexity of achieving PCI DSS compliance by offering easy-to-use solutions and a detailed level of support which makes the process less complicated.
“As part of our commitment to grow the business of our partners and help them expand internationally we now allow our partners and their merchants to meet mandatory data security and compliance requirements in a smart and efficient way”, said Gijs op de Weegh, COO Payvision.
